The art of getting a second date.

Many people will decide early on during a first date whether or not they would like to have a second date. First impressions are crucial and, if you undergo a rough first impression, chances are you will be out of luck. Make sure that you are at your best right from the moment you meet up with your date to clinch a second opportunity to get together.

The following are tips for securing that second date.

Show definite interest

Do you think it’s a good idea to be using your phone or some other mobile device on a date? This is a big no-no, and a surefire way to make your date really bored. Something else that goes along with this is talking about yourself too much.

A better way to go about this is to approach a topic using a story or your own opinion, but then ask about his or her view about the subject or situation. This way, your date will realize that you want to get to know him or her better.

Avoid flowery compliments and gifts

This can encompass several different actions. Make sure that you do not give excessive compliments to your date. You should not bring several little presents, or one big one. Another issue that goes along with this is being too clingy.

However, it is great to let him or her know that you are excited about being out on a date together. If you can be candidly honest without pressuring him or her, it will go a long way.

Be careful with showing affection

What do you do if you are attracted to your date and would like to show him or her? This can be awfully tricky, but there is a careful way to go about it. Even though it may feel strange and old-fashioned, why not ask if you can kiss or hug him or her? Holding his or her hand can show affection without being overly bold. Communication truly is the most important thing when it comes to dating.

Going on dates may be stressful, especially when it comes to knowing how to behave and what to say. Everyone makes a mistake every once in a while. The key is to put your best behavior forward. Show manners and that you have an interest in the other person. This is likely to help you bond and look forward to future dates.
